April Newsletter

Dear Friends,

It’s been a busy month. The importance of considering decisions from a perspective of wellbeing of people and planet, rather than accumulation of money and power for the few, seems to have dramatically increased on a global level. Maybe not enough people are aware that this is an option we can demand? Maybe the global power struggle will reach it’s logical conclusion and the only remaining option will be for humanity to work together on our mutual interests of living a good life and leaving a viable habitat for future generations.

Together, we can lay the foundations for this change.

The headlines for this Newsletter:

Don’t forget our dedicated England Hub page on the forum for general discussions and idea sharing.

Current topics in detail:

Webinars

We’re looking for new contributors for our popular and engaging webinar series, with the aim of showcasing organisations in England that consider the idea of a Wellbeing Economy as integral to what they are striving for. If YOU (or someone you know) fits that description, then we would love to have you as a guest.

Previous webinars have given exposure to projects working on such topics as growing community wealth, psychological safety, community food systems, and community gardens as a mental health resource. Visit our YouTube channel if you missed any of them!

Steering Group Expansion

There is so much to do! As a 100% volunteer organisation, WEAll England is only able to work on the activities that we as individuals have time and energy for. In addition to this, as is to be expected for any such organisation, people’s lives move on and their availability changes. In our case, Nigel has stepped down from the steering committee (but is happily staying on as working groups co-ordinator), and Orla is very close to starting a period of maternity leave (with our warmest congratulations!).

Associated with the circulation list of email addresses for this newsletter is a note of those that have expressed an interest in joining the SG. It is neither complete, nor entirely up-to-date… there have been a few generations of sign-up form with the associated data-migration complications! So, the key message is:

If YOU are interested in joining the WEAll England Steering Group, please email england@weall.org with a brief note on how you’d like to contribute

We currently meet for an hour online, 12pm on the second Monday of the month for a full meeting, and most 4th Mondays of the month for a less formal catch-up. Working groups have their own additional meetings according to their own schedules.

Website Overhaul Support

Recently, some exciting functionality has been added to the platform upon which the WEAll England website is built (i.e. the WordPress.org interface that WEAll Global provide for us). This opens up the opportunity of expanding our weall.org/hub/england page to have it’s own navigation bar and multiple pages. If YOU have experience, confidence and enthusiasm for supporting this type of overhaul (…on a voluntary basis!) then we would LOVE to hear from you.

With our warmest wishes and optimism for the future,

Conor, Oliver, Orla, Phil and Vikki
