Amp team diary May 2019

Each month, the WEAll Amplification team (Amp team) shares what they’ve been working on, and their priorities for the coming month.

Ana Gómez

What’s kept you busy in May?

• Following up on lots of exciting connections made at NESI Forum, including new WEAll members and many wonderful collaborators here in Spain
• Supporting the development and setup of new WEAll local hubs including in New Zealand and Canada
• As ever, meeting with members and particularly on-boarding new members is the best part of my job! We had more new members than ever in May

May highlight:

• The launch of WEAll Canada (WEAll Can!) with an amazing 15 members already

June priorities:

• A trip to Scotland, a place I truly love, to be together with the rest of the Amp Team
• Working with Lisa and Isabel to engage with our new WEAll Citizens – including calls about hubs for those who are interested (and there are lots!), and Spanish language tutorials
• Continued support for new hubs

What’s kept you busy in May?

• The first month of WEAll Citizens – we’ve been running weekly tutorials, developing the platform and building partnerships. It’s great to see over 300 people around the world using the platform to collaborate and make change
• A huge amount of media interest in wellbeing economy concepts with coverage by New York Times, Reuters, BBC and many more. This included coverage of the EEB campaign for a European Sustianability and Wellbeing Pact, which WEAll supported
• A packed week in London meeting with existing and potential members, supporting the London book launch of Arrival, and developing funding relationships

May highlight:

• Attending the launch of the first Wellbeing Economy Governments policy lab in Edinburgh, and hearing the Scottish First Minister and Icelandic Prime Minister speak passionately about their commitment to building wellbeing economies

June priorities:

• Continuing to develop Citizens with a focus on strategic partnerships
• Lots of exciting events  in Scotland that I’m involved in: WEAll Scotland’s first community consultation, a WEAll Scotland/Deloitte business roundtable, speaking about WEAll at a Platform community event in Glasgow, and a JRF conference on story telling
• Spending time with the Amp Team

What’s kept you busy in May?

• Seeing the movement expand –  I had a fantastic trip ton Canada where potential for a WEAll Can is strong, via the energy and ideas of colleagues on the narratives cluster who joined our May call, and via the attention the wellbeing economy agenda is getting (more audiences wanting to hear about it, including those who came to the Arrival London launch!)
• Narratives was a strong theme for a successful trip to London, working with our friends at the GEC to build partnerships in this space
• As ever there’s been a lot happening in Scotland! We held a lovely celebration evening to mark WEAll Scotland’s registration as a charity. I’ve been involved in exciting events including the launch of the Enough! project, and also been in the Scottish media a fair bit promoting the wellbeing economy agenda

May highlight:

• Seeing the WEGo project come to life, spearheaded by bold female leaders – read my blog on this important milestone here

June priorities:

• The Amp Team being together – and also having a little bit of time off to spend with my family
• Taking the WEAll message to Westminster with involvement at two All Party Parliamentary meetings – and participating in the Disruptive Innovation Festival in London, too
• Continuing to work with the awesome people in the Research and Narratives clusters – I especially look forward to the Research calls!

Stewart Wallis

What’s kept you busy in May?

• At the start of the month I was in San Francisco, meeting funders, potential member organisations and trustees of Christopher Reynolds Foundation who have subsequently awarded a grant to WEAll
• Fundraising meetings and relationship building, including following up on connections made on my US trip
• The first meeting of the WEAll Global Council, which I am chairing

May highlight:

• Rounding off a very positive trip to California, full of connections and learning

June priorities:

• Spending time with team in Scotland
• Continued fundraising through application development and relationship building

Michael Weatherhead

What’s kept you busy in May?

• Two German trips, meeting with funders and convening members and potential members
• Green lighting the Alternatives to Business As Usual guide, and submitting funding applications to get it going
• Kicking off the Global Council, and supporting its members to start undertaking their new roles

May  highlight:

• The first WEAll gathering in Germany, held in Berlin in collaboration with BMW Foundation

June priorities:

•  Pursuing funding opportunities
• Developing training with Velcro for customer-facings sales team
• Continued development of the Alternatives to Business As Usual guide
